I’m a twit…hear me tweet

Ok, ok, after much thought I’m giving twitter another chance.

I do see the merit in it for micro-blogging conferences, projects and sharing quick snippets of info that don’t warrant a full blogpost. If you have no idea what twitter is take a look at this quick video explanation by the folks at Common Craft - in a nutshell twitter is a micro-blogging tool that functions a bit like the status update field on Facebook (to be honest if you have no idea what facebook is then it’s possible you’ve been living under a rock, it’s even been featured on Egoli for crying out loud)

As you update your status you can then look for people to ‘follow’ and they in turn can follow you and track what you choose to share. Like any other social tool it requires discipline and commitment to make it work. My twitter name is melattree - get hooked up and follow me - thanks to those who have chosen to follow me already ;) the peer pressure means I’ll give it some effort.

  1. Have you tried Pownce at all? If you have, what do you think of it and where do you see it fitting into the ecosystem?

  2. Hi Paul, I see you’ve been talking about it quite a bit…I’ve signed up and will give it a go. I like the interface and the ability to log other social network details also. Let’s see how we go and I’ll report back :)

  3. Ahoy… I’m doing a lot of twucking around at the moment. Like invent silly words that start with tw. Twittered a conference recently (post coming soon!) - very, very interesting. I think the secret lies in valuable, LIVE information. There’s a bunch of bollocks on Twitter at the moment - sifting the good from the bollocks can get tiresome.

    But it’s got me interested.

  4. Hi Twandy, I agree - hearing first hand about new twapplications ;) and latest blog postings is great. I can definitely see the merit in it for conferences - look forward to your post (twost?)
