New Media Marketing Conference - Day 1

So, Day 1 of the 2nd annual New Media Marketing conference concluded with a very interesting presentation from Colin Daniels of Avusa. He spoke about QR codes and their various applications, plus we were treated to the new Pet Shop Boys music video which was pretty cool as it features QR codes. (I’ve linked for those of you who are too young to know who the Pet Shop Boys are *grimace*)

Other highlights included an energetic presentation on Affiliate marketing from Eric Edelstein, Justin Hartman managed to make SEO edgy and MXit founder Herman Heunis gave us insights into his super-successful SA creation. Jon Bishop did a good job in his speaking debut and is now prepped and ready to give his wedding speech :)

Jason and the Zoopies (is that a band?) did an awesome job live-blogging the various talks (Jason’s twitters also had us in stitches at times) - check out the presentation writeups, photos and video coverage here. All in all a good day but I would have liked to have seen more marketing managers and agency reps there.

The biggest highlight for me however was the fact that I was actually there (bow down and give thanks again to Mike) and that I got to meet some very cool people IRL (in real life) for the first time, even though we still twittered throughout like real geeks ;)

Roll on tomorrow…I’m looking forward to another info-packed day.

  1. LOL … J&theZ’s … I like it. Wanna be our manager?

Was great meeting you today! Would’ve been better if you could hear me too though … maybe we can do this in stages? :)

    See you tomorrow!

  2. Thanks for the kind words Melissa.

I’ve uploaded my presentation to SlideShare & posted it on my blog:
