Vincent kicked off with a very interesting look at the creation of Amatomu (SA blog aggregator) and how the M&G have expanded their social media strategy. He also mentioned that they have 300 RSS subscribers and 10 000 e-mail subscribers! Proves my point that not enough people know about RSS and how to use it. Mike was up next, very engaging and gave some helpful key points about social media and how to engage brand evangelists and key opinion leaders. All this despite having slides on show as the projector seemed to be tired and didn’t feel like speaking to the mac.
Tyler was another highlight of the day, he speaks very well and practises what he preaches. Again, mobile was the buzzword of the day and he also touched on the fact that we are all now ‘prosumers‘ – no longer just consumers but producers also – think user-generated content, crowdsourcing; anyone can actively create and publish content and this changes the way we receive information. I’m involved in social media strategy so this is a key message for me and one which I’ll elaborate on in another post.
Paul Jacobson’s presentation not only looked great but more importantly made sense of all the legal stuff for us non legal eagles – it was info I needed so I took quite a bit away from Paul’s session. I also really enjoyed Allan Kent’s presentation – the fact that he has a great mix of creativity and technical knowledge is intriguing. It’s clear he’s passionate about what he does and I liked the fact that he used complete 360 campaign ideas to illustrate how digital / web / social elements fit into the mix.
The conference line-up was good I do however feel that where possible speakers should try and attend the conference – this gives them insight into the audience demographic as well as exposure to the other presentations so as to avoid overlap. Perhaps I was just a little tired by the end of day 2 or perhaps I wanted to shoot the speaker instead of the puppy?
Watch the presentations on Zoopy and see for yourself, also check out the ‘blow by blow’ Twitter coverage – some of it makes for entertaining reading
