I LOVE music so I was pretty excited when Nic wrote a cool post about the top 10 albums he would select that he felt would educate his kids one day.
I’ve selected my top 11 (I simply couldn’t lose one) – these are the albums in my collection that I never tire of and that I can listen to all the way through without skipping…I think it’s a good balance of genres and includes some of my all time faves as well as a few albums my Dad played for me when I was little. (Time constraints didn’t allow me to include pics to make it pretty.)
To compile an album list is tricky as you inevitably leave out some of your best artists, while I was compiling this list I was thinking of my top 10 songs….now that would be a challenge, perhaps we’d have to allow for 20 ☺
1. Randy Crawford – The Ultimate Collection
2. George Michael – Older
3. James – Laid
4. Chicane – Behind the Sun
5. Peter Gabriel – So (but they’d also need to listen to the single Solsbury Hill)
6. Supertramp – The very best of Supertramp
7. Bjork – Debut
8. Coldplay – Yellow
9. The Cure – Mixed Up
10. Dave Matthews Band – Crash
11. Madonna – the Immaculate Collection
What do you think? Let me know what your definitive albums are.

Hmmmm, interesting list, a fair amount of “New artists”. Nice work on James and Coldplay, love the Cure too. All in all, fantastic stuff!!
I’m with you on Peter Gabriel and DMB
[...] Nic started this off with 20 albums to educate your children with and Melissa followed up with her top eleven albums. So here are my all time [...]
I think I would have to keep three of your albums when compiling my list – Chicane, Supertramp and Madonna. Albums I would definitely omit would be Bjork (I don’t think I could listen to an entire album of hers over and over) and Dave Matthews Band (their stuff doesn’t quite gel with me). I, too, battled to keep my list to 10. So here are my top 12 albums, with a bonus album.
1. Robbie Williams – Escapology
2. Deepest Blue – Late September
3. Chicane – Behind the Sun
4. Supertramp – The very best of Supertramp
5. ABBA – The Complete Studio Recordings
6. Depeche Mode – 101
7. Counting Crows – August and Everything After
8. Jamiroquai – High Times: Singles 1992-2006
9. Madonna – the Immaculate Collection
10. Linkin Park – Meteora
11. (Nelly Furtado – Loose or Justin Timberlake – FutureSex/LoveSounds… Timbaland, essentially, but not one of his solo albums)
12. Michael Jackson – Dangerous
bonus album
13. Mr Methane – Trouser Trumpet
Kewlios top 10, here we go then (in no particular order!):
Madness – One Step Beyond
Depeche Mode – A Broken frame
Yazoo – Upstairs at Erics
Cold Play – X&Y
INXS – Kick
Hoodoo Gurus – Magnum Cum Laude
