Seduction101: GO channel pioneers cross-platform storytelling in SA

I wrote about Seduction101 a few weeks back while the campaign was in the teaser phase. Seduction101 is a cross-platform minisoap produced by MNet New Media for the Go Channel. The minisoap is distributed via the MobiGO online social network and is delivered to cellphones using the MXit platform, the campaign is backed by campus activations and a full social media campaign.

MNet New Media selected Brandsh to assist them with the online awareness – I helped them with the Social Media Press Release (SMPR) for Seduction101 which has just gone live. This is the second SMPR I’ve worked on and is only the 3rd SMPR in South Africa.

The SMPR collects and packages Seduction101 media information neatly and coherently to streamline the process of story creation. This web page has links to the latest minisoap episodes, the character’s profiles on the MobiGo social network and links to all other online touchpoints.

As with any online project this SMPR is a work in progress and I welcome any comments. Something I’ve been thinking about is that in order to be social a project should invite and encourage comments and feedback like a blog does.

It’s been said that a blog without comments and reader interaction is not then a true social media platform – does this comment then apply to the SMPR and should the concept of the SMPR be taken further to incorporate user engagement? or should it just fulfil a direct press release function?
