What is RSS and how do I use Google’s RSS Reader?

If you’ve attended one of my Web 2.0 or social media workshops or if you’re a regular reader you’ll know that I’m a HUGE advocate of RSS (Real Simple Syndication). RSS is a way of delivering (syndicating) content and it’s the easiest way of keeping up with the latest news, gossip and info on the web. Thankfully the guys at Common Craft have made my life a lot easier and I often refer to their short, simple ‘paper’ videos to explain complicated concepts ‘In plain English.’

They’ve just released their Google Reader in plain English video – if you have no idea what RSS is then watch both the vids below, the first will explain what RSS is and how it works and the second will explain how to use the web based Google Reader RSS application.
