While clearing my RSS feeds I sometimes stumble across really interesting and exciting stuff – RSS Mixer is probably one of the most exciting sites I have found. I know it sounds dead geeky but I am *that* excited and had to tweet it immediately!!
I’ve been making RSS mashups for a number of years now – usually using Yahoo Pipes. An RSS mashup basically means that you’re taking several RSS feeds and creating one large feed that you can then distribute or subscribe to. YPipes is highly customisable as it allows you to add on various rules / tags / filters etc. so that the end RSS pipe result is as perfect as possible.
Where RSS Mixer will appeal is that it is uber-simple to use, just plug in the addresses of multiple RSS feeds and hit ‘Mix it’ to produce your single customised RSS feed. Even better is that the feed can then be shared / utilised in many different ways – e-mailed, mobile, desk widgets, web widgets etc.
Simple. Shareable. Customisable. Cool.

Hi Melissa,
I enjoy your blog. I was reading through and ran across this post. While RSS Mixer is an RSS mashup tool, you might want to take a close look at Fwicki.
Fwicki is an innovative patent-pending RSS mashup tool that is much more powerful than RSS Mixer or Yahoo Pipies. In fact, Fwicki preceded RSS Mixer, Yahoo Pipes, and Google Reader.
It is a very different animal than all three and has cutting edge technologies that include innovative RSS management tools and cutting-edge RSS social media concepts.
Fwicki services are also integrated into the FeedBurner application… this means Google understands the importance of Fwicki.
See for yourself… search the following terms in Google:
rss management
social media feed reader
rss mashup social media
multimedia mashups
I think the application deserves looking into and twittering! I have posted Fwicki as my site (I wish!!) so the link will be readily available for your audience.
I look forward to hearing from you on twitter about all this!
Nice blog BTW… love it!
